Annual report 2025
As an educational institution for environmental training, Lipka is one of the oldest and largest organizations in the Czech Republic to focus on public environmental education. We offer environmental educational programmes, afternoon courses, weekend trips, summer camps and public events for both families with children and adults. We also focus on teaching environmental subjects at universities and promote the systematic training of educators. Lipka strives to be a refuge for perceptive children and adults who are interested in the future development of the environment and who are willing to play an active role in making the world a better place. Here’s what we accomplished in 2025.
Educational Programmes
In 2025, we systematically developed educational programmes that enable pupils to engage actively with current topics, such as climate change, a more sustainable lifestyle and consent (On the Trail of Food, When You Say Sex), as well as challenges connected with the development of AI, fake news and information overload (the Klimanews simulation game).
We delivered 1,100 of educational programmes, attended by over 21,500 pupils. Altogether, that’s more than 5,000 hours spent exploring nature, sustainability, and our shared responsibility for the world around us.
Afternoon Courses and Weekend Activities
In 2025, we focused more on work on individual and group projects. For example, children made a wooden frame for a mirror, a climbing frame for a pet, a train depot for a brotherʹs birthday, and wooden board games they designed themselves. In selected clubs, we began testing different ways of tracking and recording childrenʹs individual progress.
In total, 33 afternoon clubs brought together 441 regular members. Eight weekend clubs added another 38 events, with 521 nature enthusiasts joining in.
Camps
Camps have traditionally been among our largest leisure-time activities – altogether, we spent more than a year at day and residential events. For the first time, we were able to enjoy the summer at the campsite in Podmitrov, whose new facilities were built by volunteers with enormous commitment just before the season.
We organized 23 residential camps spread across 157 days, attended by 646 children who immersed themselves in nature and discovery. Alongside these, 48 day camps offered summer and seasonal programmes to 972 children, with a total of 237 days spent learning through play and exploration.
Events for the Public
Throughout the year, people of all ages visit Lipka to join in our public events — from seasonal celebrations to creative workshops and excursions in nature. In 2025, we organized 112 such events, drawing in 8,468 participants from across the region.
Training for Educators
We ran 91 professional development events for educators, involving 2,223 participants and 942 hours of training. Whether in conferences, specialist seminars, workshops or webinars, the revision of the Framework Education Programmes (RVP) was a recurring theme in our teacher education work in 2025.
In true Lipka spirit, we approached the changes as an opportunity: we introduced teachers to the Key Competence for Enterprise and Work-related Skills, helped them identify where environmental education is embedded in the new RVP, and explored how to approach school education programmes as effectively as possible.
University Teaching
Lipka plays an active role in university education, too. In cooperation with three universities, we delivered 23 courses in environmental topics, with a total of 610 teaching hours and 545 students attending. Our facilities also serve as a training ground for future educators and trainees interested in gaining hands-on experience.
We received very open and positive feedback from most courses. Students were pleasantly surprised by our welcoming approach, the environment and, especially, the amount of inspiration they could immediately apply in their current practice.
